My friend knew she was getting a bargain price, and couldn’t wait for the reputation management firm to goose her google results. Her business would rank higher, potential customers could find her more easily. She knew potential customers would find her faster, and she could “drown out” unattractive comments about similar services.
Her name was now “everywhere” online, but the content of the new online “reviews” was off. They smelled bad, read wrong. The numerous reviews were obviously written by people who did not understand her business, and were never her customers.
The “agency” knew a ton about SEO, but they little about content and influence. They had a US phone number and email address, but were offshore and unresponsive to her complaints.
Now, my friend was engaged in a game of repairing her reputation from the reputation repair firm. More time down the drain, more potential customers lost.
Reviews and content can dilute the impact of unfavorable google results, but fake reviews and sub-standard content merely confuse your brand message. Potential customers who are confused or sense something is “off” will go elsewhere.
There are excellent reputation repair firms in the United States, who are not subcontracting their work out to anonymous freelancers on Fiverr and Mechanical Turk.
